2013/04/07: Babylon Organized Iraqi Soccer Festival
Montreal - Sunday April 7, 2013:
Babylon team organized the first Iraqi Soccer Festival in Montreal's history. The initiative was proposed by Babylon to the General Consul of the Republic of Iraq his excellency Mr Jassim Msawil, who welcomed the idea and the idea got supported by Mr. Hussain Al-Hashimi.
It was a great one day event that lasted for 7 hours with more than 130 players and supporters, with players ages ranging from 5 years old to 45 years old!
There were 8 teams in total: 2 kids teams 5 to 9 years old, 3 youth teams 10 to 14 years old, and 3 adult teams 15 years old and over.
The first game was between Babylon and Al-Taff and was started with a ball kick from the General Consul.
Salam El-Mousawi reffed all but one kids game, which was reffed by Ali Abdul Ridha.
Babylon won the championship title in the adult tournament, followed by Al-Forat team then the Al-Taff team.
At the end of the day, trophies and medals were distributed to all players and teams. Also, Babylon team Manager Mr. Ali Al-khafajy presented a thank you trophy and the team flag to the Consul General Mr. Jassim Msawil for his efforts in supporting youth activities.
Babylon management thanked all who participated in making this event a successful one.
